Concentrations

Analytics@American students can tailor their education by selecting from a range of elective courses. Online MS in Analytics students can follow any of four pre-designed concentration paths, or create their own self-designed concentration by selecting electives that best suit their professional experience and aspirations.

Business Foundations

Students develop broad business domain skills from critical thinking to accounting, marketing to finance. Students enrolling from a nonbusiness undergraduate background will enter, or re-enter, the workplace with prized and flexible academic experience.

Suggested Courses Include: Business Law, Ethics, and Governance; Strategic Thinking; Managerial Economics & Corporate Strategy; and Management of Organizations and Human Capital.


Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity has rapidly emerged as a primary IT focus for businesses large and small and now consistently commands space on the agendas of governing boards of both for-profit and non-profit organizations. This concentration provides compelling consideration of cybersecurity through a management lens, focusing on strategies and methods to prepare for, prevent, detect, and respond to cybersecurity attacks. Courses in cybersecurity are designed in coordination with the Kogod Cybersecurity Governance Center (KCGC).

Suggested Courses Include: Cybersecurity Risk Management; Database & Big Data; Cybersecurity Governance; and Forensic Accounting: Fraud Examination & Litigation Support.


Financial Analytics

Supporting operational areas from the corporate trading desk to the cash management portfolio requires professionals experienced with both analytics and financial expertise. Students meeting the prerequisites will explore portfolio analysis and investment optimization.

Suggested Courses Include: Financial Statement Analysis; Forensic Accounting: Fraud Examination & Litigation Support; and Investment Analysis & Portfolio Management.


Consulting

Businesses depend on consultancy services now more than ever, and demand only continues to grow for quality advisors. By taking a mix of analytics and management courses, students will build the skills and experience necessary to succeed in this field and appeal to potential employers and clients.

Suggested Courses Include: Project Management; Management Consulting Practices and Methodologies; Management of Organizations and Human Capital; Strategic Thinking for Decisions; and Business Law & Ethics.
